Using a generic class cleaner is usually enough; always check with the manufacturer to make sure a product is acceptable for use, as certain films, finishes, etc. need to be cared for a certain way. If you have a glass shower or bath enclosure, it is also a good idea to apply a protective coating, which will help prevent buildup and clouding.
Chrome is a soft metal, and is a popular finish because of how bright and reflective it is. Because it is so soft, it scratches easily; items are rarely sold chrome, but rather are chrome-plated. Chrome-Plated items should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth, such as microfiber, to keep it bright and avoid scratching. If it appears to be dirty or dull, it should be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap or water. If soap and water doesn’t quite do the trick, some vinegar should remove any residue.
